This unique apartment is a loft transformed from a former factory building and its industrial character is preserved in the design
Once a former factory building near Viktoriapark in Berlin, this loft apartment was transformed with the addition of a structure built in the middle of the open space. Neulant van Exel designed and built The Living Cube to span over two floors to form much needed rooms to make the apartment work for a family with children, and this Living Cube really remind of the industrial past of the building.
The lower floor houses two children’s bedrooms with glass fronts that allow natural light in throughout the day. At night and whenever needed, integrated curtain systems provide privacy. On the second floor, there’s a bedroom and an open kitchen that overlooks the open living room below. The living room shows off a grey sofa, a lounger with a footrest and some tables, and it’s divided from the rest of the spaces with the cube. The cube’s shell is made of black imbued MDF, which contrasts the white walls and ceiling. A matching staircase constructed out of black-powdered steel connects the two floors. The minimalist kitchen is outfitted with a custom black cabinet system that’s offset with a warm wooden backsplash that complements the wood floors; there’s a large hood over the space, it gives light and storage space, too. You may also see a laconic and chic dining zone upstairs that perfectly matches the overall decor. Get more of this unique dwelling below!
Right in the center of the apartment there's a large living cube of dark imbued MDF that comprises several living zones inside it and separates them from the rest of the apartment
The whole open layout is done with dark metal, which is a bone here, and with lots of hanging bulbs to highlight the industrial feel, you may also see a dining zone upstairs - it perfectly matches the decor

The kitchen upstairs is a super minimalist space done with sleek black cabinetry, with a light-colored wooden backsplash and a kitchen island that makes it more comfortable to use
