This penthouse in the Dutch city of Utrecht, is home to interior designer Jeroen van Zwetselaar of ZW6 and was designed by himself. Designers and architects always know what they want in their own homes and how to achieve this look in the best way.
The style of this apartment is eclectic, and I especially love the sleek, black kitchen as counterbalance to the bright apartment. The kitchen background is done in lights colors and light-colored wood but all the appliances and the kitchen island are black to create an eye-catchy contrast. Vintage industrial stool fit the style perfectly.
The rest of the apartment is rather bright: look at the dining and living room areas, they are full of colors, though not so bold but still spirit-rising. A vintage Persian rug looks a bit odd with a modern table and chairs; the living area in the corner can boast of other colors and original pieces. There’s a bold red modern sofa, an antique rug and a unique laser-cut curtain together create a cool and bold ambience.
Adorable artwork and oversized photographs here and there create a mood and give the space a character. There’s a lot of greenery and some flowers used for décor to bind the indoor spaces with the large terrace outside.
The home office is decorated in a very simple way not to distract attention from working or reading, and there are just a few accents like potted greenery and oversized artwork that takes almost the whole wall.
The bedroom is somewhat a bachelor’s one, with rather a minimalist interior and man-like bedding in dusty colors, there is again an antique rug and some fur on the floor to make the room cozier. The owner likes to use various textiles in home décor to achieve some effects and make the interior look more comfier.
The apartment can boast of a vast terrace with adorable views of the town, which looks very impressive.
