How does a cabin in the woods look in your mind? A modern version of such a cabin is presented by Vancouver studio MGB, it’s comprised of stacked glazed boxes overlooking the sea. The building’s two stacked volumes are clad in wood, cement board and glass that were chosen for their ease of assembly and to meet environmental regulations relating to building on the shoreline. Sliding doors integrated into the glazed wall open onto a decked area on the roof of the lower level, which is surrounded by glazed balustrades to ensure unobstructed views. The interiors feature floors made from douglas fir that bring a sense of warmth to the spaces and introduce a natural element that complements the trees of the surrounding forest.
