A lack of space is rarely a reason to not be able to enjoy a home. If anything, it’s an incentive to want to make it as great and as functional as possible within the allotted space. How to solve this problem? Rock creative and multi-functional furniture that will save your space, of course! There are many inspiring examples we can give in that regard and one of them has to do with a small apartment in London. Its owner, a professional ballet dancer, wanted to be able to practice at home and as such he needed a fairly large empty space for that. That inspired the team at Intervention Architecture to come up with a unique and very interesting design solution.
The challenge here was to include plenty of space for sleeping, eating and other general activities and also having enough room to practice whenever needed, all within the same volume. That was all made possible thanks to a series of custom-designed multi-purpose furniture pieces. There’s a large, ceiling-height unit with a Murphy bed and plenty of storage as well as a bookcase and they work together beautifully. The bookshelf module can be easily moved and the fact that it also includes bench seating makes it perfect for the kitchen and dining area. When the bed is stored and the bookshelf is out of the way, this whole space remains nice and open, perfect for ballet dancing. When needed, this bed area can be easily turned into a dining space or a comfy reading nook, which is perfect. Get inspired to use every inch of your home, too!
