There’s a lot to be said for the convenience of an all-inclusive vacation package. Paying for everything up front eliminates the potential for shock when the bill arrives at checkout time (something that families and other budget-conscious travelers will greatly appreciate). Choosing an all-inclusive resort in a place like California takes care of another common source of worry and one that has ruined many a vacation: bad weather. California has, for the most part, reliably blue skies throughout the majority of the year.

While it’s difficult to find many true all-inclusive resorts in the U.S. that compare to the type found in the Caribbean and Mexico, there are plenty of package deals that offer half board or at least make it possible to string together a complimentary breakfast with resort credits to cover additional meals. So, if you’re on the hunt for a fuss-free getaway to the Golden State, these all-inclusive package offers are some of California’s best.

Alila Ventana Big Sur, Big Sur

Alila Ventana Big Sur

It’s easy to see why California’s Big Sur has inspired some of America’s most celebrated artists and writers. And though room rates have certainly increased since Big Sur’s beatnik heyday, those craggy coastal views remain the same. See for yourself at Hyatt’s upscale Alila Ventana Big Sur, an adults-only resort perched on the cliffs between California’s famed Highway One and the Pacific. Alila Ventana is one of the few true all-inclusives in California, as room reservations cover all meals and snacks, including in-room dining, poolside, or at the guests-only restaurant, the Sur House. Also included in the price are activities like guided hikes, yoga, Tai Chi, group meditations, and even your own chauffeur to cart you to and from town or anywhere else within a three-mile radius.

Guests can choose between forest, ocean, meadow, or canyon view rooms with extras like wood-burning fireplaces, hot tubs, walk-in showers, and other amenities to help make for a cozy stay. Basic king rooms start at $3,000 and go up.

Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur

Post Ranch Inn

If your number one vacation objective is rest and relaxation—with an emphasis on rest—the Post Ranch Inn’s current Sleep Program will be right up your alley. The Big Sur resort has teamed up with sleep specialist Dr. Michael Breus to design a guest program aimed at improving sleep quality through diet, spa treatments, and more. Also included in the deal is dinner at the Sierra Mar, the property’s on-site restaurant, and access to Dr. Breus’s seven-part “sleep sessions” video series. In their waking hours, guests can take advantage of activities like yoga, meditation, sound baths, and—for an additional fee—falconry. Also reserved for guests is a fleet of Lexuses for quick jaunts around the area.

Visitors can add the sleep package to any stay of two nights or longer for an additional $1,200 and $900 more for additional guests in the same room.

Brisas del Mar, Inn at the Beach, Santa Barbara

Brisas del Mar, Inn at the Beach

Enjoy a wine-tasting weekend in Santa Barbara at the beachfront Brisas del Mar, Inn at the Beach. The intimate 39-room property offers a Wine Lovers Package which includes a guided tasting-tour of three wineries complete with a catered picnic lunch (weekends excluded). Guests also receive complimentary bottle of Chardonnay or Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara Winery.

Even without the special package offer, all guest reservations include a deluxe continental breakfast, afternoon happy hour with locally produced wines and cheeses, and complimentary bicycles to explore the nearby beaches.

Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort and Club, Dana Point

Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort and Club

Located in Orange County’s exclusive Dana Point, the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort and Club offers guests some of California’s best whale watching and one of the few private beach clubs in the southern half of the state. Guests can make use of beach club equipment such as paddleboards, boogie boards, and surfboards, while golfers may instead opt for the beachfront fairways of Monarch Beach Golf Links.

Currently travelers can book the Another Day in Paradise package, which offers guests a fourth night free during their stay. Another offer currently up for grabs, the Bed & Breakfast package includes an $80 daily credit for breakfast, either in-room or at one of the many restaurants on the property. This package starts at roughly $800 per night.

Carneros Resort and Spa, Napa

The cutesy clusters of cottages that make up Carneros Resort and Spa are the absolute antithesis to the mega-resort style accommodations so prevalent in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Cottages are roomy and include private outdoor space, fireplaces, outdoor showers and tubs, on-demand wine, and other frills. Full-sized vacation homes are also scattered throughout the resort village, ideal for big families or larger gatherings. There are a number of package stays to choose from such as the Arrive Early & Stay Late deal. That’ll get you a $50 credit at POST Tasting Room along with early check-in and late check-out, plus a room upgrade, starting at $760 per night.

The Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, Dana Point

Spend a weekend or more at the upscale Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel beachfront resort. The Marriott Resort Retreat package earns guests a generous $100 daily resort credit to put towards lunch, dinner, or other services for stays of three or more days. The property’s Rejuvenate You package includes two treatments at the Ritz-Carlton Spa and a luxurious oceanfront lunch, while the Treat You package earns guests one additional night free on top of any four-night stay.

Forget the free breakfast! These hotels offer a truly fun amenity—a complimentary happy hour for guests. Serving up everything from regional wines to fresh baked snacks, this social perk helps travelers meet new friends, save money, and sample local beverages.

Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington D.C.

All Kimpton hotels offer a nightly complimentary wine hour for guests, a tradition that was started at the brand’s first hotel in San Francisco in 1981. Kimpton’s founder, Bill Kimpton, wanted guests to “feel a sense of community and inclusion, and relax at the end of the day.”

At the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington, D.C., the tradition continues strong, and the happy hour is held in a warm and welcoming communal space that encourages guests to socialize.

Virgin Hotels Chicago

Join Virgin Hotels’ free loyalty program, The Know, and you’ll get more than just reward points. The Know members get a free Spirit Hour at Virgin Hotels, which includes beer, wine, and cocktails.

At the Virgin Hotels Chicago, the happy hour is held on the rooftop bar, so guests can enjoy epic views with their free drinks.

Kimpton George Hotel, Washington, D.C.

The Kimpton George Hotel puts a local spin on the brand’s famous wine hour, offering themed beverages based on holidays, seasons, or special occasions. Guests who stayed at the George during cherry blossom season, for example, were able to indulge in free cherry cordial and sake cocktail during happy hour.

Hotel Lucia, Portland, Oregon

Home to over 80 breweries, Portland, Oregon is sometimes called the Craft Beer Capital. So it’s only fitting that the Hotel Lucia offers a nightly free craft beer hour for guests. Between 5:30 and 6:30 pm, the hotel’s bartenders will serve complimentary brews so guests can sample Portland’s best breweries without blowing their budget.

James New York NoMad

The James New York Nomad has guests covered from morning to night. The hotel’s lounge, the James Club, serves free coffee and breakfast snacks in the morning, and hosts a wine hour in the evening.

The James Club is equipped with fast and free WiFi, so guests can take advantage of the drinks and snacks while working remotely if they choose.

Navigating the labyrinthine corridors of large hotels can be a frustrating experience for many travelers. We’ve all been there: you step out of your room, confident you know the way to the elevator, only to find yourself wandering aimlessly down identical hallways. The sense of disorientation is compounded by the repetitive patterns of doors, artwork, and carpet that seem to stretch endlessly in both directions.

Inevitably, you’ll make a wrong turn, realizing your mistake only after walking for what feels like miles. The moment of truth comes when you reach a dead end or an emergency exit, forcing you to retrace your steps with embarrassment and annoyance. This scenario is particularly irritating when you’re already running late for a meeting or trying to catch a flight.

While getting lost in a hotel might seem like a trivial concern in the grand scheme of travel woes, these minor inconveniences can accumulate, adding unnecessary stress to what should be a relaxing or productive trip. The time spent navigating back to your starting point can throw off your entire schedule, not to mention the frustration it causes.

Fortunately, seasoned travelers have developed clever strategies to combat this common problem. One particularly ingenious trick recently gained popularity thanks to a TikTok video shared by flight attendant @allycase1 shared on TikTok. Her simple yet effective method has the potential to save countless travelers from the dreaded hotel hallway maze.

The hack is beautifully straightforward: upon first entering your hotel room, take a moment to place your shoes near the door, with the toes pointing in the direction of the elevator. This visual cue serves as a personal compass, instantly orienting you each time you leave your room.

If you’re not comfortable leaving your shoes by the door, you could use other items as directional markers. A cup set to one side of the door or even a simple note with an arrow drawn can serve the same purpose.

The Berkshires have long been a top tourist destination for New Yorkers and beyond, often focusing on wellness and adventure thanks to the surrounding mountains and woods. Nestled in Lenox, Canyon Ranch is the ultimate wellness accommodation for a trip to Western Massachusetts. The only problem? You won’t want to leave the resort!

Location: Lenox, Massachusetts

Tucked in the western part of the state, Lenox is home to several prominent attractions, including Tanglewood, Shakespeare and Company, and Edith Wharton’s home, The Mount. It’s a popular tourist destination, especially during the summer and fall for leaf peepers.

Property: Canyon Ranch

Canyon Ranch Lenox MA. Formerly Bellefontaine Mansion
Canyon Ranch

Canyon Ranch, located at the former Bellefontaine Mansion, features 100,000 square feet of fitness facilities, a high ropes course, nature trails, and more.

  • Indoor pool and outdoor pool.
  • On-site spa.
  • On-site restaurant.
  • Fully equipped fitness center.
  • Saunas, hot tub, cold plunge.
  • Demo kitchen.
  • $200 Daily Service Credit.
  • Unlimited wellness and lifestyle activities.
  • Guided Hikes and Bike Rides.

Rooms: Deluxe, Premium Deluxe, Luxury Suites and Condos

Canyon Ranch

I stayed in a two-queen Deluxe room with a view of the front of the grounds. I was amazed at how quiet it was; I couldn’t hear anyone’s showers or doors opening and closing – a usual complaint I have when I stay at a hotel. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, and I had one of the best nights sleep of my life the first night of my stay. The bathroom was spacious, and there was a separate sink with a filtered water spout next to the Nespresso machine in the room- a feature I appreciated, as I always feel weird getting water for my coffee or tea from a bathroom faucet. All in all, the room was comfortable and there were no features I was missing. Other accommodations include one-queen, one-king, two-king Deluxe and Premium Deluxe (premium rooms are located closer to the spa), Luxury Suites and, for when you have a large group, Condos, which can accommodate up to six guests.

Dining: Sit Down and Grab ‘N’ Go

Canyon Ranch

One sit-down restaurant, Canyon Ranch Grille, operates from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The menu features healthy seasonal, regional foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Reservations are highly recommended. Culinary Rebel is a quick-service, grab-n-go restaurant with smoothies, coffee, and tea and a pleasant, comfortable seating area. Both accommodate gluten-free and vegan diets.

Services: Spa, Classes, Lectures and Demos

When you stay at Canyon Ranch, be prepared for a day full of activities that nourish your body and soul. The schedule of classes, activities, and menu of services is plentiful and ranges from a simple meditation class to pickleball, hikes, kayaking, yoga, ropes courses, lectures on mindfulness and nutrition, and so much more. Services include massages, body composition screenings, longevity coaching, hypnotherapy, personal training, and even past life experience sessions.

I arrived around 10 am the morning of my first night and started with a workshop titled “Emotional Stress Release Through Healing Touch.” With a hands-on approach, the lecturer guided us through a quick visualization exercise, and we discussed the results as a group. I followed it up with a Sacral Chakra Hip Opening yoga class, which was both challenging and rewarding. I wanted to take a Journey Through Tarot class later that afternoon, but I had to meet with my group, so I missed it. I had a candle massage (which is not a massage with candles, but with warm oil), which was relaxing and therapeutic.

To finish off my first day, I attended a Miracles, Luck, and the Butterfly Effect lecture with Jerry Posner, which was eye-opening and inspiring. The following day started with a vigorous morning walk through Lenox, perfect for all levels – they have a person in the front, one in the middle, and a third in the back with the slower-paced walkers- so no one felt as if they were going too fast or too slow. I attended a Lunch and Learn for lunch – watching the chef prepare a delicious meal, showing us how to do each step. After,  I did a Coming Home to the Body workshop, a great way to bring awareness to my body and be in the moment. I capped the night off with a Shirodhara treatment, unlike any treatment I have ever had. After a brief massage, the practitioner slowly poured hot oil over my third eye, letting it pool back onto my scalp. She then massaged the oil into my scalp. It was meditative and relaxing, and what I loved most about it was that it was something I would never have booked if I hadn’t been at Canyon Ranch. My downtime was usually spent in the spa area, utilizing the hot tub and sauna, and I even gave the cold plunge a try! It was absolutely freezing, but we found that going in as a group and rooting each other on was the best way to power through it.

The Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa in Whitefield, New Hampshire, stands as a living testament to the golden age of grand hotels in the White Mountains. Dating back to the late 19th century, this historic property emerged from humble beginnings when a stagecoach crash led two travelers to the welcoming home of William and Mary Jane Dodge. That chance encounter sparked the evolution of a simple farmhouse into one of the region’s most prestigious resorts, attracting notable guests such as Theodore Roosevelt, Robert Frost, and Bette Davis over the years.

Exterior of the Mountain Grand Resort with scenic mountainous background

Today, after a period of dormancy and subsequent revival, the Mountain View Grand offers a luxurious escape amidst 1,700 acres of lush New Hampshire landscape. The resort has undergone numerous intensive renovations that seamlessly incorporate modern amenities into the resort’s rich heritage.

The hotel’s iconic bright yellow building, visible from various vantage points in the surrounding mountains, serves as a beacon of hospitality in the heart of the White Mountains.

The Location

The Mountain View Grand occupies over 1,700 acres of land in the heart of New Hampshire’s White Mountains. Set down a long private road, the resort feels very far apart from it all, with uninterrupted views of nature in every direction. Despite this sense of seclusion, guests are not entirely isolated; the charming town of Whitefield is just a five-minute drive away, providing a convenient link to local amenities.

The resort’s location, close to the White Mountain National Forest, serves as a gateway to outdoor adventure in all seasons, offering mountain biking, hiking, and skiing within a short drive.

Activities

The Mountain View Grand Resort offers an array of on-site activities that make venturing beyond the property entirely optional. At the heart of these unique experiences is the resort’s working fiber farm, a delightful attraction for guests of all ages. Daily “Meet the Farmer” tours provide up-close encounters with an endearing menagerie of animals, including llamas, alpacas, sheep, goats, donkeys, rabbits, and chickens.

We highly recommend signing up for the Llama and Goat Experience, where you can go for a scenic walk with a friendly llama or goat leading the way.

Golfers will appreciate the resort’s nine-hole course, but it’s the unique “Llama Tee Time Trek” that truly sets this golfing experience apart. This unique offering pairs golfers with a llama caddy who will cart the clubs from hole to hole.

Seasonal activities further enhance the farm’s appeal, with apple cider making and hayrides in the fall, as well as carriage and sleigh rides during the winter months.

Other activities available include:

  • Yoga
  • Teen movie and game nights
  • Pickleball
  • ATV Tours
  • Beer tasting
  • Mountain biking
  • Water aerobics
  • Axe throwing
  • Tennis
  • Disc golf
  • Ice skating
  • Snow tubing
  • Snowshoeing
  • Cross-country skiing
  • Holiday activities

Dining

There are four dining options at the Mountain View Grand.

Expedia

Harvest Tavern

The main restaurant, the Harvest Tavern, is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This casual spot has large picture windows with stunning mountain views, and in the summer months, features a terrace for an even better look at the scenery.

The tavern incorporates local, seasonal ingredients into the menu, giving you a true taste of the area. We visited during maple season, and enjoyed dishes such as maple-glazed carrots and maple creme brulee.

Harvest Tavern Bar

Located next to the Harvest Tavern, the Harvest Tavern Bar is a more casual setting that serves the same food menu as the restaurant.

Veranda

For the best views in the house, pull up a rocking chair or table on the Veranda, located on the hotel’s wraparound front porch. The Veranda serves traditional American cuisine including burgers and pizzas against a mountain backdrop.

1865 Wine Cellar

Celebrating a special occasion? Reserve a table at the 1865 Wine Cellar, an intimate restaurant located in the resort’s wine cellar, where you can dine among bottles of vintage wine. A dress code recommending jackets and forbidding jeans makes dinner here feel like a celebration.

The Wine Cellar serves a four-course meal that can be expertly paired with prime vintages.

The Rooms

The Mountain View Grand offers over 140 rooms to choose from, from cozy guestrooms to spacious suites. Whether overlooking the meticulously maintained property, the golf course greens, or the majestic surrounding mountains, every room ensures a visual connection to the stunning New Hampshire landscape.

Classic Queen Standard Room at the Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa
Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa

We stayed in a King Heritage Suite, which featured breathtaking views of Cannon Mountain. The bedroom featured a plush king-size bed, and the separate living room had large windows from which to admire the scenery, a pull-out couch, a mini-fridge, and a coffeemaker.

Amenities

The Mountain View Grand has amenities to appeal to all ages, including:

  • Golf Course
  • Farm
  • Fitness Center with modern equipment
  • Indoor and outdoor pools
  • Small cafe and store
  • Movie theater with over 500 movies
  • Game room

The crown jewel is the resort’s Tower Spa, located on the top floor. After a long day of hiking, treating yourself to one of the heavenly massages offered on the heated tables here is the ultimate indulgence.

Price and How to Book

Room rates start at around $159 per night and can be booked on Expedia.

We’ve all been there. Staring at a tiny photo of a hotel room, trying to decide from just a few images if it’s worth your money. When reviews are sparse, there’s one simple trick you can use to judge the quality of a hotel room by its online photo.

Take a look at the bedding pictured in the hotel room—if the bedspreads are white (rather than patterned or a different color), it’s a good sign that the hotel is clean and modernized. However, if you see something like an orange and brown comforter, it can be a red flag that the hotel hasn’t been updated in decades.

Seeing a white bedspread tells you two things before you book. First, it’s a signal that the hotel has updated the decor somewhat recently, as all-white bedding became popular for hotels starting in the 1990s. (If you see bedding that’s reminiscent of the ‘80s or ‘70s, it’s unlikely that the rest of the hotel has been modernized.)

Second, all-white bedding tells you that the hotel has high standards for cleanliness. White bedding shows stains and age much easier than other colors, so by using this color for their linens, a hotel is showing that it’s confident in its cleaning procedures.

Of course, white bedding isn’t a guarantee that you’ll love your hotel room—a pristine duvet can still top an uncomfortable mattress. However, it’s a good starting point for reviewing a room just by a photo.

About 10,000 hotel workers walked off of their jobs over the weekend, one of the busiest travel weekends of the year, due to unresolved contract negotiations. Members of the UNITE HERE union are asking for “higher wages, fair staffing and workloads, and the reversal of COVID-era cuts.” Many workers live paycheck to paycheck, and their pay does not cover the cost of living.

Workers in nine cities and twenty-six hotels are currently on strike, and the possibility of more strikes looms large if no resolution is found. The cities with current strikes are Boston, Greenwich, Honolulu, Kauai, San Francisco, San Diego, San Jose, Baltimore, and Seattle. The list of hotels with striking workers can be found here and will be updated live as more hotels join and as the strikes end. UNITE HERE represents workers from Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriott hotels.

Many hotel workers are struggling during a time when hotels posted record-high daily rates and revenue, yet many hotels remain understaffed.

If you’re nervous about an upcoming trip or are currently staying at a hotel impacted by the strikes, we’ve got answers to common questions you may have.

What If There Is a Strike at the Hotel Where I am Staying?

As travelers, this is a legitimate concern. As difficult as it may be, you should never cross a picket line, so if you are staying at an affected hotel, ask for a refund and rebook at a different hotel. FairHotel.org allows you to search for your hotel to see if a strike may impact it.

If rebooking is impossible for some reason (there is no other hotel in the area, and all other hotels are sold out), ask management to determine how the strike will impact housekeeping, room service, and amenities.
Be kind and considerate to those workers still working, as their workload is likely much higher than what it typically is. If you have to cross the picket line, talk to those striking, and show your support for them. Remember: they aren’t protesting you, they are protesting management.

I Have a Future Booking At A Hotel That is Currently Striking

If you are booked for a stay at a hotel with workers who are currently striking, what you do depends heavily on when your trip is. If your trip is within the next week, try to find another hotel in the area that is not part of the strike. If it is well into the future, keep an eye on the news, and as you get closer to your vacation, if the hotels are still striking, rebook it elsewhere.

What Hotels Are Impacted by the Strike?

As mentioned above, UNITE HERE represents workers from Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriott hotels. While it is only a handful of their hotels that are currently impacted by the strike, consider booking at a different hotel if you have an upcoming stay at one of those hotels, just to be safe.

Alternate Hotels Due to The Strike

Here are some alternate hotels to book in each city that is impacted by the strike:

Boston – Encore Boston Harbor

Greenwich – Delamar Greenwich Harbor

Honolulu – Ala Moana Hotel

Kauai – OUTRIGGER Kauaʻi Beach Resort & Spa

San Francisco – Chancellor Hotel

San Diego – Hotel Del Coronado

San Jose – Four Points by Sheraton San Jose Downtown

Baltimore – Horseshoe Casino Baltimore

Seattle – Coast Seattle Downtown Hotel by APA

Check out UNITE HERE’s guide for further tips on what to do during a strike, including what to do if you are invited to a wedding at a hotel with striking workers.

You’ve checked out of your hotel, made it home, and unpacked your suitcase—but there’s one more important thing you should always do once your trip ends. Set a reminder in your phone to check your credit card account 24 hours after you’ve checked out of a hotel.

Why You Should Always Check Your Credit Card Statement After Stay in a Hotel

Almost all hotels will put a mandatory hold on your credit card when you check in. This hold is usually for the amount of one night’s stay, plus an extra $50-$100 to cover any incidentals (like minibar charges) or damages that may be incurred.

The hold is typically released from your credit card within 24 hours after checking out, but you should always make sure it’s actually been removed. Although 24 hours is the standard time for a credit card hold, some financial institutions take longer to remove holds, so you may have to check back again within a week if the hold is still pending after a day.

You want to make sure that the hotel actually removed the hold, and that it hasn’t become an actual charge on your credit card. There could have been a glitch in your system where the hold didn’t get removed, or you might have been incorrectly charged for something you didn’t do—like smoking in your hotel room. Be sure to ask for an itemized receipt when checking out so you can verify that these charges were not valid.

It’s important to catch this error quickly so that you have time to call the hotel to have the charge removed, or, in the worst case scenario, to dispute the charge with your credit card company before your bill is actually due.

Don’t think you’ll remember to check your credit card? Some banks offer the option to sign up for alerts when charges go through, so you can take advantage of this feature to automatically see any post-trip charges.

The Dunes on the Waterfront, an iconic resort in Ogunquit, Maine, has reopened under new management after a $10 million renovation. This seaside property, which has been a fixture in the area for over 85 years, features 23 charming white cottages with green shutters and windowboxes full of flowers. Set over 12 acres of oceanfront land, each standalone cottage has plenty of privacy. The renovation has updated the resort with modern amenities while preserving its historic charm.

The Dunes on the Waterfront occupies a peaceful location on a tidal river across from Ogunquit Beach, which was recently named one of the best beaches in America. Guests can enjoy amenities such as a heated oceanfront pool, kayaking, and paddleboarding or simply relax on their screened-in cottage porch. The resort’s location, a short distance from Ogunquit’s downtown area, allows visitors to explore local shops and restaurants easily.

The Location

The resort is separated from Ogunquit Beach by a narrow tidal river. You can easily walk across the dry riverbed at low tide in approximately five minutes and be on the sandy beach. At high tide, you can take a complimentary boat ride from the hotel to the beach or borrow a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard to make it across.

The property sits on a quiet residential street outside Ogunquit’s busy downtown area. I recommend borrowing one of the resort’s bikes (locks, helmets, lights, and baskets are provided) to explore—so you can avoid the traffic that often gridlocks downtown.

The Rooms

The Dunes boasts 23 renovated cottages, each with a unique name and character, like “Driftwood” or “Seagrass.” While preserving their classic coastal exteriors, the interiors have been updated with modern amenities, including gas fireplaces, spacious bathrooms, and kitchenettes.

I stayed in Lookout, a two-bedroom waterfront cottage furnished with local antiques and artwork. Modern comforts included Cuddledown bedding, plush robes, a wet bar stocked with complimentary drinks (including Whispering Angel wine) and snacks, a coffeemaker, a gas fireplace, and a screened-in porch.

The property’s thoughtful layout ensures water views for nearly all cottages. Guests can choose from various room configurations, ranging from one to three bedrooms, to suit their needs.

Dining

While The Dunes on the Waterfront doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, it encourages guests to explore the over 40 dining options nearby. The resort has partnered with its neighbor, the popular Ogunquit Lobster Pound, offering guests a complimentary dessert upon presenting their room key.

Mornings at The Dunes are a treat. Each day begins with a doorstep delivery of pastries from the local Bread & Roses bakery, accompanied by The New York Times and a thermos of hot coffee. Sitting on the screened-in porch while reading the paper and sipping coffee was the highlight of my mornings here.

Amenities

Katie Nielson

The Dunes on the Waterfront fully embraces its seaside location, with amenities centered around getting out on the water. The beautiful heated pool overlooks the ocean and has plenty of sunbeds with umbrellas for lounging under. Bright yellow inflatable tubes in the pool allow guests to float while reading (or napping).

Other amenities include:

  • Lawn games
  • Firepit and s’mores
  • Complimentary bikes
  • Free shuttle service into Ogunquit and nearby beaches
  • Complimentary use of kayaks, standup paddleboards, and rowboats
  • Pastries, coffee, and newspapers delivered to rooms each morning

Price and How to Book

Rates start at around $1,000 per night and can be booked directly with Dunes on the Waterfront.

If crying babies and toddlers throwing temper tantrums is not the vibe you’re looking for on your next vacation, consider an adults-only resort. Little Palm Island Resort & Spa, Florida

The resort boasts the largest sports betting experience in the world, with a three-story sportsbook that’s busy all day and night.

Upstairs, you’ll find Stadium Swim, six pools spread out over three levels, all facing a 40-foot-tall high-definition screen so you can keep an eye on all of your games.
